With the whole world going up in smoke we can not but wonder if Jesus Christ our Lord is already on His way (We know He is coming soon). We know that nothing is as it should be; from the governments of the world to the home front– everything seems to be heading downhill fast because of the uncertain times we are in, and it would be nice to take a look at the signs and the spirit of the end times from the Bible.
This post will be focusing on the signs and the spirit that accompanies the last days we are going to be talking about…
SIGNS OF THE END TIME
What are the signs of the end-time are according to Matthew 24? The disciples went to Jesus and asked him, “Lord what shall be the sign of your coming?” to paraphrase… all these things you have been teaching us, all the things you’ve been telling us all these while, how would we know and how are we to ascertain that what you’re telling us is true? How would we recognize it when it comes? Jesus in His mercy told them in that Matthew 24 you can read the whole chapter but we will focus on
verse 3-31
“3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.25 Behold, I have told you before.26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.“
We have highlighted the signs Jesus gave the disciple and us and you can decide for yourself if all these things have not happened yet except for the Abomination of Desolation and The Great Tribulation, otherwise, the other signs are clearly visible for the whole world to see.
The disciples/apostles asked Jesus to show them the signs of the end times and Jesus gave to them and to us by extension, lots of signs to look out for, He told them about nations/world powers rising against Nations and Kingdoms, The Tribulation and The Great Tribulation, He talked about the Abomination of Desolation that would stand at the Temple mount. with all the happenings today we should know that Jesus is at the door and that Jesus is on His way down to earth soon. Jesus did not just give physical/natural signs of the Endtimes, He told them about the Supernatural signs that will accompany His return, The Sun and the moon not giving their lights as the stars of the heavens would all be seen falling from heavens and we can confirm those same things also in the Book of Revelation 6:12-13
“12And when I saw the Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind.…”
QUICK FACT:
I don’t know why most Christians are afraid of the Book of Revelations, it is the 66th book of the Bible or the 27th book of the New Testament, and the very last book of the entire Bible.
The Book of Revelations paints the whole scenario of how (time, space, and matter) will play out in the time that is to come. Jesus Christ assuredly told us here to expect those signs before He Jesus will appear and we know that our God is true and His words are true yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He has said it, so shall it be!
The time and the hour, no man knows… not even the angels in heaven and if you know who angels are, what angels are, you would understand that they are highly powerful celestial beings, angels are spiritual beings that are super-intelligent, they are superhuman and possess supernatural powers. They are endued with enormous powers that one angel capable of destroying a whole village if in doubt read the bible “That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning–there were all the dead bodies!“2 Kings 19:35
Now, if angels that are ministering spirits are not even aware of when the Lord is coming back then there is no way a limited man can know, this is why Jesus mercifully warned us in that Passage that just as it was in the days of Noah Matt 24:37… just like the days of Noah where people were getting married, carousing, doing everything they could do for themselves, buying and selling, eating and drinking, gossiping and sinking ourselves deep into the world system as almost everyone is crypto-crazy right now the love of money is really driving people crazy, Imagine all you are living for is to invest and buy cryptocurrency, imagine ourselves so into the world’s financial system and all, that then the master Jesus will come like a thief in the night, unexpectedly. There will be so much pain and great gnashing of teeth.
The Lord is calling us today and warning us all by sending us out into the world to tell the people that those days will be a terrible time for those without Him. Hence, we must get up and put on the full armor of God that will be able to stand against all that is contrary to God’s plan for the world….praise the Lord!
SPIRIT OF THE END TIMES
Let’s take a look at the spirit of the End-times or the Last Days, the characteristics and the manifestations from 2nd Timothy 3:1-9 the book which actually is the last letter apostle Paul wrote to Timothy whilst in prison in Rome deals with a lot of issues but we will concentrate on chapter 3:1-9
“But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.”
Paul explicitly told Timothy through divine revelation what the last days would be like and we know the bible is true as all those things were written are true …just look around you and see. Paul was able to picture the kinds of things and kinds of people that would be commonplace in the last days, and he’s telling us today that when we see these signs… when we see these pictures… when we see these spirit in play… when we see these characteristics in the men and women all over the world as we do right now, Then it tells us we are at the end of the end time… the last of the last days indeed!
If all the happening in the world doesn’t convince you yet please take a look at the verses above and see if all these are not happening at alarming rates.
From this letter to Timothy, we can deduce that just like the earlier disciples of Christ wanted to know about the last days, Timothy and the church at Ephesus wanted to know all about the end times, and apostle Paul in his letter to Timothy detailed how to identify these things in 2 Timothy chapter 3:1-9.
Let’s go through this again, we read that the sun will turn black/dark we know that the moon will not give its light as Jesus said in Matthew 24, even the stars will fall from the sky. Jesus said nations rise against nations…
Paul went further to give us the characteristics of human behaviour that would characterize the endtimes like Jesus said, He’ll give us the Holy Spirit to teach us all things and we see some examples from this chapter, people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, blasphemous, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, lack of self-control, excessively brutal, haters of things good & lovers of Evil, lovers of pleasure, Revellers, haughty,
The Apostle says they will even have a form of godliness, Christians who congregate and assemble with other Christians, pray as Christians pray with other Christians regularly, still, they will lack the power and spirit of God (not because it is unavailable but they will be unwilling to accept God’s terms) they will not understand the essence of what it means to be a Christian and how to live a holy life, the power to crucify their flesh, the power to say no to sin and pleasures of life, the power to stand firm on the words of God… Paul is simply saying that they would look like and act like Christians but fall short of the mark of the higher calling.
Little wonder we see that in today’s world we have many voices going about turning people’s hearts from God by filling people’s mind and heads with drivels such as “Self-love/Self-care”, “take pleasure in the world and enjoy yourself”, “live for yourself”, “you only live once”, “one life to live”, “there’s nothing after death”
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
2 John 2:16
Most fill their souls with all the pleasures and lust of the things of this life, sex shops opening up everywhere, you can see people buying all sorts of paraphernalia and enhancers, husband/wife attraction oils, voodoo materials for job promotions, and the likes yet the people are not ashamed to market and buy these products.
We are in the last of the last days, with people always learning and never coming to the full knowledge of God, With everyday folk listening to the words of God, every year they are on the same level. They are preached to but never improve on their walk with God.
Our minds are corrupt and filled with depravity, the vain imaginations of the heart, people no longer need to show their evil faces, only their thoughts would manifest that. Oh, what a wicked generation we live in today! A generation where you cannot send a child out now without having your heart in your mouth… you’ll be so scared just to send your child outside your gate to go get something, people are kidnapped all over the place with great uncertainty whether the person will return, people doing these things shows the spirit of the end time.
People love themselves so much these days that they have to kill in order to achieve wealth. unashamed lovers of money, they love money so much that they are able to do anything to make money and as the Lord lives, that money will perish with them and they die and leave it here and get judged by God and sent to hell, and the descendants they left that money for will also suffer the repercussions of their actions. Therefore, repent before it’s too late.
In conclusion, if you happen to be here, and you are not born again or you feel this message convict you… today is the day to repent and accept the salvation that Jesus came to give those who come to Him. Today is also the day the Lord has made for you to give your life to Christ today as Jesus says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock where is that door the door of your heart I will call me to him and I will sup with him and he With Me.”
